Today, the majority of colleges, high schools and sometimes places of work have been notified about the Affirmative Action Law. This law demands that these institutions should bring in more minorities who have been discriminated in the past. As much as we would like for racism to be completely extinct, it is not. Plus, with the recent marriage laws released, gender preference has become another target for discrimination. So, should these factors really matter when it comes to these institutions?

Should race, sex, and/or gender preference be taken into account when being selected for high school, colleges, or jobs?

The Virgin Jane. . .

The show that I chose was "Jane the Virgin." This show is probably one of the best shows on television today. If you haven't seen it, then DO IT. It's on Netflix and Hulu. Anyways, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOW because it captures the exact same morals that all of us girls are taught at a young age and emphasizes what could happen if these morals are broken.

The moral of the show is to remain a virgin until after marriage. Now in case you haven't figured that out from the title, that's okay. I'll let you in on what's been going on. This show revolves around young Jane who has her whole life planned out ahead of her. She is very intelligent and extremely motivated to reach these goals. However, she encounters a little bump in the road. During her visit at the doctor's office, she accidentally receives an insemination when instead she was supposed to have a Pap test. This little mishap changes the course of her life from there on. She crosses paths with new and old companions. So, I won't allow myself to tell you anymore because I know for a fact that I might spoil it for you. Anyways, this show is basically an American telenovela. Every episode will have you questioning each character's decisions and relationships. Trust me, you will NEVER be bored.

In conclusion, you should absolutely watch "Jane the Virgin." The show has great morals, which I personally feel isn't emphasized enough in today's world. As well as that, it's extremely witty and full of life lessons that everyone can relate to. From the moment you watch this show, you will be hooked and will have already chosen a favorite character. So, do yourself a favor and add some spice to your life by watching "Jane the Virgin."
The two songs that I chose were "Love You I Do" and "It's Over". If you haven't noticed, both of these songs are from the phenomenal movie "Dreamgirls." This musical movie is just beyond words, but that is not the point of this. My real point is that EVERYONE should listen to these songs. Each one tells its own story in its own unique way.

"Love You I Do", is performed by the talented Jennifer Hudson. Now if that isn't enough to persuade you, then please listen. She has a voice range that is truly unbelievable. She can hit a wide range of notes. Anyways, this song tells the story of young woman who believes that she has found everything she needs in this one man. Now it's okay if you can't relate to this song, but you should still give it a chance. This song has a catchy beat and very in-sync lyrics.

Now the second song, "It's Over" just raises the bar to the max. It consists of Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, and the one and only, Queen B (Beyonce). Now if that isn't enough to capture your interest then what are you doing. I'm just kidding however, Beyonce is no joke. This song tells the story of an innocent woman being hurt by the ones she thought she could trust. Although, it isn't as dark is it may seem. In the end, this song gives off so many dramatic feelings, it's amazing. If you love drama then you should listen to this.

Timed Writing #2

My favorite book at the moment is Scott Pilgrim: Precious Little Life.

This book is about your average 20 year old. Scott Pilgrim is in a band with his closest friends from high school. Currently he lives with his roommate Wallace and they're just getting by in life. Eventually, he encounters a mystery girl that has a glow to her complexion. Instantly, he knows that he needs to get to know her as soon as possible. Then he learns that if he wants to date her, he must defeat her 7 evil exes. EVERYONE should read this book because it is extremely funny and witty. Plus, who doesn't love pictures. It requires little to no effort to comprehend. If you do end up loving the book, which I know you will, just keep in mind that there are 5 other books in the series. So you should read them all.
